       Craig,

This is in response to your request for inputs on what our
sections	charter	should be. I am not sure where	we
currently stand as far as our efforts contributing to the
success of the Spectrum program. Our (IHO) highest priority
objective is to replace the HP 3000. I am concerned that we
will not	have enough resource to	get everything in place	for
two very	different products at the same time. If we have
the hardware ready on schedule and do not have the other
things in place then will will have wasted a lot	of effort.
I think that it would be	a mistake to try introduce an
incomplete product. I think that we need to make sure that
there is	a reasonable chance that everything can	get done to
make Firefox a timely and complete product. Below are some
things that we might investigate	doing.

	 1. What would	it take	to make	Firefox	a good HP 3000
replacement? Is it just a	matter of porting the
software?	Is the I/O expander necessary and
sufficient? Could	we leverage the	Indigo product
	     design?

	 2. Develop a Spectrum	SPU that could be used in a single
user engineering workstation. Could we use the Bobcat
product design? Could we design a	Spectrum CPU board
for the RODIO bus? Could this be made compatible with
the architecture?	How big	of an effort would it take
to	get series 200 software	ported to a spectrum
	     processor?
