.H 1 "Comparison of 68000 family products"

This is a brief description of the differences of the 9836, the 9929, GATOR,
and ELK.

.H 2 "9836"

.VL 12 2
.LI "Display"
The display on the 9836 has a resolution of 512 X 390. The color version
has the same resolution and four color mapped planes.
.LI "CPU"
There are two CPU's available. There is 68000 8 MHz board that has 128
Kbytes of RAM and there is a 12.5 MHz 68010 board with an MMU and no
RAM.
.LI "Expansion"
There are eight expansion slots. These are used for things like RAM, ROM,
DMA, and I/O. The slots are all electrically identical but because of
mechanical reasons only four of the slots can be used for I/O.
.LI "Features"
There is an attached keyboard, two 5.25 inch floppy disk drives and an
HP-IB interface built in (300 Kbytes/sec.).

Optional powerfail protection (1 minute of protection for the machine)
.LE

.H 2 "9920"

.VL 12 2
.LI "Display"
The display on the 9920 has 400 X 300 resolution. There is not a color
version of this display.
.LI "CPU"
It is the same as the 9836.
.LI "Expansion"
There are 16 expansion slots (8 Can be used for I/O). The display is optional
and takes two of these slots if it is present. There is option board that
contains a keyboard interface (same keyboard as the 9816) and an HP-IB
interface that also takes a slot if present.
.LI "Features"
There are no built-in features on the 9920. There is is no powerfail option.
.LE

.H 2 "GATOR"

.VL 12 2
.LI "Display"
The resolution of the display is 1024 X 768. The color version has the
same resolution and eight color mapped planes.
.LI "CPU"
Only the 12.5 MHz 68010 CPU board is supported.
.LI "Expansion"
There are 8 expansion slots (four can be used for I/O). The keyboard
takes one of the four I/O slots.
.LI "Features"
There are no built-in features on GATOR. There is is no powerfail option.
.LE

.H 2 "ELK"

.VL 12 2
.LI "Display"
ELK will use the new displays provided by the graphics section. There are
four slots that can be used for expansion RAM or display boards.
.LI "CPU"
ELK will use a 16 MHz 68020.
.LI "Expansion"
There are four expansion slots. Each is provided with about 27 watts of
power and 120 square inches of board area. There are also four DIO slots.
.LI "Features"
There is a built-in keyboard interface, an RS232, and an HP-IB interface (750
Kbytes/sec.).

Powerfail will be optional. At this point both backing up RAM and a UPS
are supported.

ELK has a high performance bus that allows paging to take place in the
background.

It is compatible with the long term computer group strategy. (ROSEBUD
packaging, MID-BUS, SPECTRUM support, ITF keyboard).

Will be more reliable and serviceable. (ECC RAM, parity on bus, improved
service strategy)

Has features DSD says they need (9920 does not).
