  Abstract
This publication describes the functions of Distributed FileManager (DFM) in an OS/2-MVS/ESA environment and explains how to use DFM to access access record-oriented and stream-oriented data sets. It describes the setup for the OS/2, MVS/ESA, and OS/400 systems and provides sample applications written in high level languages such as C, and PL/I.

This document is written for OS/2 workstation users and application designers who want to know how to use DFM to access data sets that reside on a host system (MVS/ESA or OS/400) from an OS/2 workstation.

Some knowledge of DFM, OS/2, APPC, and programming languages is assumed.

This publication includes usage scenarios, program listings, and source code of the samples on a diskette.
