VisualAge Generator V3.1 System Development Guide, SG24-4230-02
  Abstract
This redbook provides a detailed look at the object-oriented workstation development and library management environment provided by the VisualAge Generator, Version 3.1, product set.

In this redbook we have included: - An overview of V3.1 of VisualAge Generator - A primer on ENVY-based library management - A guide on development environment design and configuration - A review of the tasks required to build a system - A guide for how to mix 4GL and Smalltalk programming.

Many sections contain guided exercises to demonstrate the concepts discussed in the text.

This redbook was written for application developers and service professionals involved in the implementation of VisualAge Generator-based development environments. Some knowledge of VisualAge Generator and the development process is assumed.

This update (third edition) includes information about the new VisualAge Generator V3.1 ENVY library configuration requirements, a revised development environment design chapter, and a new chapter, Chapter 17, Programming in 4GL and Smalltalk, which includes over forty Smalltalk/4GL programming exercises to guide you through the process of mixing 4GL and Smalltalk programming in a GUI client
