This redbook describes the planning, installation and use of Lotus Calendar
Connector for OfficeVision (LCCOV) to enable cross-calendar capability between
Lotus Notes and OfficeVision for MVS, OfficeVision for VM, OfficeVision for
AS/400 and Time and Place.
This redbook is intended to provide practical technical information for
customers and IBM systems engineers.
It was written for systems administrators responsible for implementation
of and/or migration to Lotus Notes, where there is a need for calendars to
reside on multiple host and LAN platforms.
The emphasis of the study to produce this book is on the new aspects o f
LCCOV as compared to its predecessor, Time and Place Connectivity for OS/2
(TaPC/2). In particular, the use of Windows NT and the SNA BackOffice
Server, the new end-user interface on that platform, the connection to Lotus
Notes and the differences between LCCOV and TaPC/2 are discussed.
There is no significant change in the way the connections to the various
calendar systems are configured. Therefore, we use only a connection to a
VM calendar system to describe calendar connectivity in the enterprise,
enabling us to focus on the new functions and to provide the reader with as
much new and useful information as possible.
Some knowledge of TaPC/2, Lotus Notes, Windows NT, OS/2 and calendaring and
scheduling is assumed.
