This redbook describes how to migrate from a Microsoft Exchange environment to Lotus Notes and Domino.
The first three chapters explain how to plan for and install, customize, and operate the Microsoft Exchange Connectors.
This is intended for those customers who have a requirement for coexistence between the two environments before
migrating to Lotus Notes and Domino.
Chapter 4 covers how to connect a Microsoft Outlook 98 client to a Lotus Domino server using the following Internet
standards: SMTP, POP3, IMAP, LDAP, and MAPI.
Chapter 5 shows how to connect a Lotus Notes client to a Microsoft Exchange Server using the following Internet
standards: SMTP, POP3, IMAP, and LDAP.
The later chapters focus on migration from Microsoft Exchange to Lotus Domino. The Domino Upgrade Services (DUS)
and migration wizards provided by Domino Release 5.0 are discussed first, followed by a description of two migration
tools supplied by Binary Tree, Inc.: Migration tool for Outlook 98, which is end-user based, and MailPort for Exchange,
which is administrator-driven.
This redbook documents third-party products for migration from Microsoft Exchange to Lotus Domino. By including the
tools in this document, IBM/Lotus do not solely endorse these products for use in this type of environment. Other
third-party products may be available that perform similar or equivalent functions.
The redbook was written for Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange technical specialists and system administrators,
customers, business partners, and the IBM and Lotus community who need a good technical understanding of how to
configure a coexistence environment between Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino, and how to migrate users and
their data from Microsoft Exchange to Lotus Domino.
