How to get IBM Redbooks published
Our goal is to develop and deliver technical content and know-how to technical professionals in IBM, Business Partners, customers, and the industry, to accelerate the deployment and exploitation of complex IT solutions. These solutions may include components from Business Partners as well as IBM offerings. If you know of a need to develop information about solutions integrating IBM products, and would like to see this information published to a worldwide audience, the ITSO can can be commissioned to develop IBM Redbooks to meet the need. To find out how, send an email to redbook@us.ibm.com
How can you participate in developing our material?
We are looking for IBM employees, Business Partners and customers to join us at one of our centers to help author a Redbook during a four-to-six week ITSO Residency. The small residency team comes together under the guidance of an ITSO Project Leader. Here, you will explore and document product implementation, integration and operation, often in the context of marketplace solutions. You will partner with IBM development divisions, using feedback from many sources to ensure real-life applicability. Residencies offer a valuable skills enrichment process that focuses on the practical application of leading-edge software and hardware.
The graph, on the right, illustrates the international makeup of the participants. The residents come from a range of IBM businesses, partners, customers and marketplace professionals from around the world. They are selected on the basis of skill and availability in the project time frame. It is a competitive selection process. The short development cycle of IBM Redbooks requires technical skill, professionalism, a desire to solve problems and the ability to
communicate solutions to others.
Residencies are announced through the IBM Redbooks Web sites and the Registration facility. Use the Residency button on the sites to browse the available residencies or to discover specific residencies using the search function.

Benefits of being a resident
The ITSO Residency program provides maximum benefit to residents and their businesses, while serving the objectives of IBM Redbooks creation. IBM organizations, Business Partners and customers report that their returning residents have gained significant new skills, enabling them to support IBM's latest products and their integration with other industry products and applications. These skills apply directly to customer installation, implementation and operational objectives. They can also be used for services generation, where appropriate to the business, or indirectly in technical support of sales objectives. The contacts made by residents within the IBM development community and with other residents from IBM teams, partners and customers are invaluable for keeping these skills up-to-date.
